Dr. Chantal Pharand appointed CCAPP President 2018-2019

CCAPP is pleased to announce the appointment of Chantal Pharand as their President for 2018-2019.

Dr. Pharand is a professor and Associate Vice-president for Student Affairs and Success at the Université de Montréal, as well as a researcher and clinical pharmacist specializing in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy at the Sacré-Coeur Hospital in Montreal where she practiced in cardiology (hospital and ambulatory care) over the past 24 years.

Since 2003, she has been very actively involved in, and coordinated the development and implementation of the Pharm.D. program at the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Pharmacy, first as a member of the implementation committee and then as of 2006, as Vice-Dean of Undergraduate Studies. This program is characterized by a an active and guided learning approach, and the use of integrated courses. She then supervised the development of the Pharmacy Qualification Program, a program for foreign pharmacists wishing to obtain a license to practice pharmacy in Quebec, then the Pharm.D. bridge program, to enable practicing pharmacists with a bachelors’ degree from Quebec to be able to obtain a Pharm.D. degree.

In addition to her academic and administrative activities, Dr. Pharand practiced first and foremost as a researcher at the Sacré-Coeur Hospital of Montreal for 20 years, as well as a clinical pharmacist in the coronary care unit until in 2006 and since then as co-head of the Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Clinic. She has been actively involved in research in the area of coronary artery disease and antiplatelet drugs, resulting in the publication of more than 50 scientific papers, and the presentation of nearly 100 abstracts at national and international conferences and more than 125 conferences, at local, national and international levels.
